Autumn Brunch in Megalong Valley Tea Rooms

How I got there: My husband and I wanted to go on a long drive to have a look at the autumn colours in Blue Mountains, the colours look so pretty in and around Sydney during May and Blue Mountains has the best trees for the autumn colours. Megalong Valley is about an hour and half away from Sydney, about 100KM out west. It is a beautiful drive, through Katoomba, and the Blue Mountains and down the valley. When you are about 10 KM close to the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms in your maps, at the top of the hill, you will see a small sign board to take a left turn for the tea rooms, make sure you don’t miss the sign, or you will end up going in the opposite direction.

About the place: As soon as you enter the place, you are surrounded by this lush and old country charm and the bright burst of autumn colours is just wonderful. I would say Autumn is the best time to visit the Tea Rooms, cold in just the right way so you can cozy up in one of the little huts. There is seating outside and inside the huts. Outside you have got amazing views of the mountains and the vibe of the tea rooms is very midcentury and country.

There is a good selection of teas to choose from, but I think their apple pie is one of the best. We also had their fruit scones with cream and jam which were delicious and their savory veggie dishes, especially the veggie smash was very tasty with Mediterranean and Indian spices. We also had their potato and leek soup with a delicious side of sourdough bread. Enjoying the views while having our brunch was the highlight of our trip to the valley. There is quite a wait time, especially during weekdays, but is definitely worth the wait!
