How I got there: Bruny island is accessible by a ferry. You can take your cars on the ferry and then drive in Bruny island.
Total duration: The ferry takes half an hour from south of Hobart; you can spend a day on the island.
Traffic light for children: Green
About the place: I went to Bruny Island with my family and with my wonderful niece and nephew, who were quite young back then. I sure can say kids will love this place, as I saw for myself firsthand. The ferry ride is very scenic, and you get a view of all the little islands nearby. Tasmania in itself is a wonder mystery, with its untouched landscape and strange animals, found only in Tassie. Every piece of landscape feels incredibly wonderful, but Bruny Island was a totally different and wonderful surprise.
It was cloudy when we got there but again, the views! Mist was closing out on us and with the same kind of spit visible from Bruny, that is there in many other places in Australia i.e., with land parting, what appears to be back waters from the ocean. Waves on one hand and calm waters on the other. It was very blue at one point in time and then suddenly the skies and the sea started raging and roaring and the views were grey but still breath taking. There are also nature walks here that you can do on the island. It is not crowded, very vast and does not have water sport activities. But you go there for the peace and quiet.
