How I got there: Crystal Castle is about 12 km from Byron Bay City. It takes about half an hour to get here.
Total duration: Half a day
Traffic light for children: Green
Website: https://www.crystalcastle.com.au/
About the place: Right from the drive, which is a scenic drive, through to the crystal castle itself, is a wonderful experience. The crystal castle is present in a vast expanse of 5 hectares of land, which is on top of the mountain with beautiful views of green valleys. I was incredibly surprised that Byron Bay is so green.
When you say "Byron", the only thing that comes to your mind is beach and celebrities. But Byron is beyond that, it is full of lush green lands and forests and a vastly different landscape compared to Sydney and southern Sydney region. The crystal castle, as the name suggests is a magical land and you get to see the biggest amethyst crystal in the world. Amethyst is a light to dark purple coloured crystal and if you look inside the crystal, it looks like you are looking at the milky way galaxy. I am sure if my imagination of the skies and galaxies is painted into a reality, this is how it would look like! I heard many people say that this is a "touristy" place, I personally do not believe in that term. I was blown away by the beauty and urge you to go for yourselves and visit the gardens without inhibitions, do not be caged to one type of travelling, explore everything!
