THOTADMANE
How I got there: Thotadmane is near Srirangpatna in Karnataka. We stopped here for lunch on our way back from Coorg to Bangalore.

About the place: From the moment we entered this place, we knew we were going to experience wonderful locally sourced food and traditional Karnataka delicacies. “Thota” means fields and “mane” means house. This restaurant is built in a traditional rustic style with farm and old village style houses. The décor is very welcoming, and the food is so pure and homely, it feels like you are visiting an old lost relative’s home. It is also very well maintained and clean and the air feels so good to relax and spend time.

SHIVALI BRAHMINS RESTAURANT
How I got there: Shivali Brahmins Restaurant is on the Bangalore-Mysore highway. You can find this fully updated restaurant on both sides of the highway and you get the most delicious food here.

About the place: In channapatna, near Shivali restaurant there are also many native and organic stores. Shivali needs no introduction. Delicious south Indian food and ethnic mangalore and malnad food. We had breakfast here on the way to Mysore and back and had such an amazing time that I can still taste the deliciousness of the food. I had Gangi here and the gangi in Shivali is the best food I have ever had till now (including the Chutney that comes with it!)

SUGARCANE JUICE BY THE ROAD
How I got there: Traditional Sugarcane juice is very famous in Karnataka, especially in many villages on the Bangalore-Mysore highway.
About the place: This juice is extracted from raw sugarcane and when added with lemon and some ginger tastes delish! Street vendors all along the highway keep making them in their manual sugarcane machines and you can easily rink 3 glasses on a hot summers day, as did we!
Some pics on the way back from the sugarcane fields...
