My first oversees vacation from Australia (not considering visits to my home country India), was in Egypt. It takes almost 30 hours to get from Australia to Cairo, Egypt, as you must fly into Dubai and then catch a plane from there. The first question that I got asked by ALL my friends was "Why Egypt?" or “Do you know anyone who’s been to Egypt!?”. Egypt is not a destination that most people from Australia would choose as their first oversees vacation. It would usually be Europe or probably South-east Asia or maybe even South America, but generally not Egypt. The answer to this question is - "It was spontaneous"!!
It started with me telling my husband that I had never seen the original ‘The Mummy’ movie. He was very shocked that I had not seen such a popular movie, so we Netflixed and immediately I was hooked! I have seen movies shot in Egypt before, but that was a long time ago and it was always on my bucket list as "Someday". I am usually very drawn to mystery and excitement and suddenly this wonderful place fit right in for our December vacation in my mysterious mind. In no time, I was looking at websites and found a great deal online for 12 Days in Egypt with Tour radar and the reviews were exceptionally good. The itinerary sounded dreamy and I told my husband that I was going to book it, it was almost 4-5 months in advance! Call me crazy or call me mad, I love experimenting and I am never caged to a particular way of life!
BOY was I GLAD I made this call, for it was one of the most wonderful, memorable adventures that I have ever had. Egypt is a mythically magical wonderland and must be on everybody's bucket list!
