How I got there: This is about 80 km South-West of Sydney, in Nattai, part of Burragorang State Conservation Area.
Total duration: We took less than an hour to reach here and spent 1.5 hours in the picnic area.
Traffic light for children: Green
About the place:
Wondering what to do on a cloudy day? Don't want to hike or go to the beach? Don't want to drive too far? Just want to have a relaxing picnic with loved ones with a killer view? Then this is the place for you!
The park opens up at 8 AM and we were there at 8! We grabbed breakfast in The Glen's Bakery Cafe, in The Oaks, a nearby town. The bakery opens up at 7 am on Sunday and this was perfect for us. Getting early in the morning meant that the mountains were filled with mist and clouds and it had a spectacular view of the valley. The massive waterbody below provides around 80% of water to Sydney. The views are breathtaking here, so high up and you can see massive mountains and valleys far far away.
It looks like a screensaver, but unedited, real, and raw. I did not know that near the Blue Mountains region, you have water bodies like these. The mountains look like they are floating on the water and the best thing about the views were the cloud shadows! You can see the shadows dancing away to the tune of the wind and making for perfect translucent reflections in the water below. Peace, quiet, nothing but the sound of birds chirping away to glory early in the morning. Makes for a great picnic brekkie. Have breakfast here or go here for the sunset.
Very nice Kane 🥰
