How I got there: We drove from Franz Jose glacier to Queenstown, another wonderful road trip! You pass by so many lakes, its picture perfect.
Total duration: I would say around 6-7 hours given that you will be stopping in all the lakes and going for some walks.
Traffic light for children: Green
About the place: We drove past many amazing towns and beautiful landscapes. The first place that we passed through was the Blue pools! This is a lovely track, and the hike is about 2-3 km, you get to a suspension bridge and you look down and see Prussian Blue water! I have never seen anything like it before. Why does water become that colour here, I wonder! I went close to the water as you can walk down, you cannot swim or go deep into the water, but just down to a safe and accessible area, I was too thrilled to see water this blue. Perhaps it is the Algae that gives water this color!
The next amazing place that we passed by was Lake Wanaka. Suddenly there was this beautiful lake, we stopped by for some time, just sat by the lake and stared at mother nature for a few hours!
And finally, we landed in Queenstown! The amazing Queenstown, the adventure capital. We did paraglide in here, got on top of the gondola and had the perfect Queenstown shot! And our Airbnb had an amazing view of lake Wakatipu! The night skies were amazing here too.
We did a couple of day trips from Queenstown, took the amazing cruise to Milford Sound and Doubt Sound, did an amazing glow worm cave tour and went to Arrowtown to look at the beautiful autumn colors. The pictures speak for themselves. No words necessary!
