Things to do in Berry, NSW

How I got there: My husband and I decided to spend half a day in Berry after visiting one of the wineries nearby. We drove here on the way back from Nowra to Sydney.

To know more about the winery we visited, head to - Silos Estate

Total duration: Berry is quite a big town, about 2 hours from Sydney and you can spend half a day here! I urge everyone to come out of their boxes, and spend some time in towns, just leisurely strolling around, antiquing and "towning". It might not be your style, but it definitely will charm you and you will end up having a lovely day. You can do it with your girlfriends, friends or with your partner and children.

Traffic light for children: Green

About the place: Berry = Food scene + Wineries + Doughnuts + Antique furniture + Antique cars + Pretty shops.

That’s what it is! The lush greenery surrounding this town is so lusciously green that it looks straight out of a story book. If you are a Gilmore Girls fan like me, as you walk past the Town Park, you can see a big Gazebo. The park is quite small, but the gazebo looks so much like Stars Hollow, I spent half an hour, just sitting in the gazebo!

This town surprised me. I did not expect the town itself to be so big, I used to stop around in Berry for the Amazing Berry Doughnuts (World famous, plain cinnamon doughnuts, melts in your mouth, always a large line, totally worth the wait and you will be willing to DRIVE for 2.5 HOURS just to have these), but that was always in the evening and when we were rushing to get back home and couldn't spend time in the town.

This time around, when I actually spent time only in Berry, I realized how big and beautiful this town is. There are amazing vintage and antique furniture shops, homewares and the best of all, ANTIQUE CARS! So many cars, and it wasn’t even Australia Day! And so many bikes!

You can just park your car and walk around town for about 2 hours and then have a nice brunch in one of the restaurants over here. There are so many restaurants on the town strip. I also had gelato (from - https://www.facebook.com/illocalegelato/), and this was really silky and smooth! Berry is close to Shoal Haven Heads, Jervis Bay, various wineries but at the same time, within the town itself, you can spend half a day, leisurely strolling. Start off with walking around town, stopping at all the shops, then have the doughnuts and then the gelato, walk around for some more time, and then have brunch in one of the restaurants. I know, I know, reverse order, but I say, Dessert First.
