Tomaree Head Summit Walk - near Port Stephens

How I got there: My friends and I drove from Sydney to Port Stephens in August and spend two days here. The Summit walk is about 5 kms from Port Stephens and you can drive to the start of the summit and park your car in the parking area over here. The drive from Sydney takes around 3.5 hours with short breaks in between.

Total duration: The Summit walk is around 2.5 km return and is quite a hard walk with some rough paths. Allow yourselves around 3 hours for the walk and more if you want to stop by at the summit and spend some time watching the sunset (Highly recommended).

Traffic light for children: Red

About the place: This is one of the most beautiful Summit Walks in NSW. The views are surreal from the top. One of the most unique and wonderful things that I have seen in Australia is at the intersection of two water bodies, there is a small path that divides the backwaters from the ocean, and it looks so beautiful. One side of the path you have calm back waters and the other side you have the raging blue ocean. The colours are also different and they look so amazing when you view it from a distance. You will know what I am talking about when you see the pictures. It can get very windy here, so make sure to carry a jacket. The wind here makes for amazing photographs! Stop at all the lookouts, historical places and ensure that you get there before sunset. Watching the sunset from here has been such a mind-blowing experience for me! After watching the sunset, we did not speak for a couple of hours as it was so meditative.
