How I got there: Wollongong is a beautiful place south of Sydney with many different things to do including skydiving, walking, and checking out the food scene. It has a pretty big CBD with a lot of new apartment developments. A lot of people are moving here to escape from the busy life they lead in Sydney. My husband and I drove here and spent half a day in Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse and had our lunch at Al-Aseel, have a look -> https://www.uncagedexplorer.com/post/al-aseel-restaurant-in-north-west-sydney
Total duration: 1.5-hour drive from Sydney and we spent half a day here.
Traffic light for children: Green
About the place: The walk from Wollongong CBD to the lighthouse takes about an hour if you leisurely walk. You can find a lot of great views, pass by the marina and some great art along the way. It can get really windy here in the spring, but that’s the beauty of the walk. The food scene is pretty great, you come across a lot of coffee shops, see a lot of boats, see a lot of kids running about and paddling in the water. I found the water really cold in the spring. I even went there in summer and still found the water a little cold. The best part was that we had coffee and walked to the lighthouse. This sure was the highlight! Go here if you want to spend a leisure day out or take your kids here for a swim.
Wow beautiful place!!!
